Managed Care
Information is what an adjuster needs to make appropriate decisions on a file. The quicker a decision can be made the greater the savings. From the first report of injury, our early intervention Telephonic Case Managers will get you the information you need quickly. Years of experience have given Windham Group solid relationships with hospitals, physician groups and private practices throughout New England
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, work-related injury claims are costing American business more than $100 billion a year in medical payments alone. In general, managed care is a plan for controlling an employer's workers compensation costs by managing the impact of medical treatment on the employee-patient.
The typical managed care plan seeks to achieve this control by introducing practice guidelines for health care providers, and by improving the methods used by employers and employees to select medical providers. In contrast, Windham takes the additional precaution of pre-selecting health care providers who share our belief that treatment can be deemed successful only when the patient is able to return to work, not just when he or she feels better. Moreover, before calling for a patient's removal from the workforce-or indeed, before waiting until the patient has so fully recovered that he or she can assume all prior work routines-our health care providers take into account the possibility that the patient may be able to perform light or alternative routines, and they make work-release recommendations accordingly. In the long run, these distinctions in Windham's approach save our customers money. Although such additional cost-containment measures as provider billing oversight and Utilization Review lie at the backbone of our managed care services, Windham specialists are equally committed to providing customers with a variety of other services. These services include injury prevention, employee rehabilitation, ergonomics, and alternative duty development | |
